Hiring a personal driver in Vancouver

A personal driver is no longer only for executives and celebrities. In a city of bridges, traffic and expensive parking, having someone else at the wheel can be the most practical way to spend a day.

What a personal driver does

A personal driver, or chauffeur, drives you in a private vehicle and stays with you for the time you book. Instead of a single trip from A to B, the car waits while you work, shop, meet or dine, and takes you on to the next stop.

At Hermes Travel the vehicle and the chauffeur come together: executive sedans, luxury SUVs and Sprinter vans for groups, each driven by a professional chauffeur.

When it makes sense

• A day of meetings. Several stops across the city, with time to take calls and prepare in the back seat.
• Visitors and guests. Clients, family or friends who do not know the city.
• Events and nights out. Dinners, concerts and celebrations where nobody wants to drive home.
• Days of errands. Shopping, appointments and pickups, with no parking to find at each stop.
• Trips out of town. Whistler, the Fraser Valley or Seattle for the day.

How hourly service works

With hourly chauffeur service, also called as-directed service, you book the car for a block of time rather than a fixed route. Plans can change during the day, and the chauffeur adjusts.

You pay the hourly rate for the vehicle you choose, so a sedan for one costs less than a Sprinter van for a team. Send us your plans and we will suggest the right car and the time to book.

What to look for

• Professional, experienced chauffeurs who know the city.
• Well-kept, late-model vehicles suited to your group and luggage.
• Commercial insurance for passenger transportation.
• Clear pricing confirmed before the trip.
• Someone to call at any hour if plans change.
